Purpose & boundaries

Useful knowledge for ordinary journeys.

Everyday cycling education covering equipment choices, basic maintenance, pre-ride checks and route-planning principles. We do not publish verified local routes or represent a local authority.

What this publication is

District Cycling is an independently operated new informational publication, not affiliated with any previous website or operator, or any similarly named business. We are not a local authority, cycle shop or cycling organisation. This website starts from its present editorial purpose. It does not claim the history, reputation, customers or services of any earlier use of this domain.

What you can read here

Our four field notes cover choosing everyday equipment, checking a bicycle before departure, recognising the limits of home maintenance and planning routes thoughtfully. We do not sell bicycles, organise rides, certify routes or provide official transport guidance. Nothing here establishes that a particular road or path is currently accessible.

Our editorial approach

These are original general-information articles written for this publication. They are not product tests, reviews based on hands-on testing, or advice from a named professional. We avoid current prices, unverified local listings and claims of guaranteed results. Where a decision depends on a particular product, location or individual circumstance, the relevant instructions and qualified advice take priority over a general guide.

Limits of written guidance

Ride within your ability and local rules. A checklist cannot certify a bicycle as safe. Do not ride with a suspected brake, wheel, steering or structural fault; ask a qualified cycle mechanic when uncertain.

A written article cannot inspect a bicycle, judge your road skills or confirm a route’s current condition. Follow applicable local laws and the specific manufacturer’s instructions. Bring uncertain safety-critical problems to a qualified cycle mechanic.

No implied services or endorsements

There are no bookings, accounts, checkout facilities or verified business listings here. We do not claim professional credentials, membership of an organisation, or an association with similarly named services. Reading a guide does not create a professional advisory relationship.
