Back In The Saddle Again and the Biketoberfest

Well, I got my computer back together and I’m finally up and running!  I had a moment where I thought I had lost everything, including my last entry of the Q & A with Christian Vande Velde and Jonathan Vaughters.  This is not the case, and I will post the transcription on Monday.  I’m excited to post it, to be sure, but it is admittedly long.  The actual sound file is about an hour long!

Revolution Cycles is having a nice new little event on the 18th of October appropriately called Biketoberfest.  They have a number of shops, and as it turns out, the closest shop to me is in fact Revolution Cycles.  As a result, I know the guys there pretty well and they always take good care of me.  When their Biketoberfest was announced, I asked if I would be interested.  What IS Biketoberfest?  Details are listed below:

What: 1st Annual Biketoberfest Expo, Presented by Revolution Cycles and hosted by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority and Occoquan Regional Park. This is a FREE event but for planning purposes we ask attendees to register. However, registration is not required to attend.

When: Sunday, October 19th from 10am to 4pm (rain or shine).

Where: Occoquan Regional Park in Lorton, VA (20 minutes from DC-see below for directions by car or bike to the park. Event site map here).

There are more details of this kind at the Revolution Cycles website.

Biketoberfest is a one-of-a-kind event where visitors from the DC Metro area can check out over 30 vendors and bicycle advocacy organizations focused on introducing you to the great sport of bicycling! Experienced riders and newbies alike will enjoy this experience, please see below for more details.

Food for purchase is provided by the Northern Virginia Park Authority.

Demo bikes require a credit card and valid driver’s license.

Family entertainment, including a magic show and children’s tent, will be ongoing throughout the day, so bring the whole family to Biketoberfest!

Sounds awesome, right?  It gets better!  While having a mini DC area Interbike, they are having a VIP Day on Saturday (the day before).  Along with a few extras on the VIP Day, there will be a few Pros not the least of which will include the great Levi Leipheimer!  The VIP day is an invite only and as it turns out, I have an extra 4 VIP passes.  Each pass includes a pass for 2 people.  Here is how I will do it: The first 4 people that I get emails from will get a pass!  Just email me at districtcycling@gmail.com and include “Biketoberfest” in the title.

I’m excited to finish out the season of blogging with meeting Levi!  There is a good chance he’ll be doing a Q & A, and of course I will record that and transcribe it here.  Who’s going with me?!  As I get more details, I will be sure and keep them posted here.
